Does TRILEPTAL cause sedation???

Posted by bipolarspectrum on July 22, 2005, at 0:38:57

Hi,
I'm currently taking lithium for bipolar depression.. although it works for the depression, I still feel very agitated and irritable... I have added in depakote but that made me so tired... I'm wondering, from (ex)trileptal users, if trileptal causes the same tiredness???
Thanx
bps

Hi BPS.

How long have you been taking Depakote, and at what dosage? Your current tiredness might be a startup side effect that will soon disappear.

One of the things about Trileptal is that after a few months, it "feels" clean. That wasn't true when I first started it. At 600mg, some flattening of affect, cognitive slowing, and fatigue evolved. These thing disappeared within two weeks. Trileptal is supposed to be good for certain agression disorders and impulse disorders. Perhaps it will address your residual irritability, but there are no guarantees.

Hey :)
For me, Trileptal makes me feel like Im a zombie in-training... Not completely aware of things, but not a complete space cadet either... I do get pretty tired around 3-4:00pm everyday -Jonathan-
