If Celexa isn't helping my anxiety, is there any chance that Lexapro would?

Yes, according to the reports of some people posting here. They do seem to be different beasts despite the fact that Lexapro is derived from Celexa. I know the theoretical stereochemistry behind it. If anything, one would think that more people would respond to Celexa than Lexapro. However, Lexapro seems to have more "bite". I don't know what else I can tell you. I have no experience with Celexa. I have tried Lexapro, though.

It might make sense to try a different SSRI first though--something a little more different. Have you tried prozac, paxil, or zoloft?

Marsha, Celexa made me profoundly tired and lethargic, and lexapro wired me. It gave my husband inappropriate laughter. Fondly, Phillipa

> EEI've been on all the SSRIs. Prozac and \Zoloft both caused the muscles in my neck and back to spasm and caused severe insomnia. Paxil gave me extreme restless legs and increased anxiety.
Also been on Effexor, Cymbalta, Lexapro, imipramine, desipramine, amitrityline, doxepin and nortriptyline.
That's why I'm kind of stuck with Celexa. It at least is tolerable even thought it could be working better.

Ugh. I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope that you can find some relief soon.

Thanks,
It's actually better now. I think it was having been on the Lamictal. I didn't realize it was doing anything but when I stopped it the anxiety jumped way up higher than before. It's coming back down to its regular level now. (Which just means I wake up scared in the mornings and feel better within about 6-8 hours).
