Experiences on low doses of Xanax?

Posted by Jazzed on June 19, 2005, at 22:57:51

I'm on only .25 mg, and it knocks me out for two hours! Is this normal? I have little ones, can't be knocked out. AND, I don't want to be sleepy, I'm on the go, and have to be. Anything not sedating for anxiety that I can take with Adderall?

my pdoc told me that if you get sleepy, you are taking too much. can you split it in half?

i was on .25 for a long time and it didn't make me sleepy; just dealt with the anxiety. but if i upped it, it made me sleepy.

Yeah, I split it in 1/2, and I was still sleepy.
I hate that! I'll keep trying and maybe it will wear off a bit? There's got to be something better for anxiety. Xanax makes me sleepy, even at that incredibly low dose, plus it takes away the physical part of the anxiety, but not the mental worry. Does that make any sense at all?

If it still insn't working good after a few weeks, try Klonopin. I take a beta blocker. They are well known for alleviating physical symptoms of anxiety but not necessarily the worrying part. But benzos like Xanax and Klonopin should alleviate worrying.

Yes, benzos are a lot more effective for my physical symptoms. They're not very good at relieving my psych symptoms.

Xanax tends to make me depressed. Klonopin works better for me. My husband loves Xanax.

Thanks Bill Ed and Trish,

Boy talk about your different experiences.
I started taking 1/2 and feel less sleepy, BUT it is only relieving some of the physical side of the anxiety, not the worrying. I don't really understand why this would be.
