Effexor-TIRED/Exhausted?

Posted by msmelis on April 27, 2005, at 18:06:28

I have been on Effexor for almost three weeks now and have just moved up to 150mg. Anyone else feel tired? Does this go away? I am not having problems sleeping but I have intervals during the day when I feel exhausted or I get uncontrolable yawns.

Thanks.

yep, had the same thing. sometimes I have to lower dose again to 75 or just not take it for a day or two in order to recalibrate my brain chemistry so to speak.
If it persists, you could ask doc about adding wellbutrin or a TCA antidepressant

Actually I heard that goes away at higher doses.
I myself never got that far, slept all afternoon every afternoon, eventually switched back to Wellbutrin. *shrug*

The tiredness from Effexor never went away for me. I took 450 mg daily until after a couple of yrs I got tired of having zero energy. My family dr. had told me to walk every day as a general healthy thing to do, and i finally realized i could never do that as long as i took the Effexor.

Hmm, interesting.
I would have suggested that the tiredness might have more to do with the depression than with the medication...

But the medication can make people feel tired???

I am feeling really tired.
Just bed and babble, bed and babble.
I thought it was just the depression hanging around.
But it could actually be the effexor?
Maybe even the Seroquel (I know that one sedates me).
Dammit.

I didn't start getting energy from Effexor until

I was on the 150mg for a few weeks and then it really kicked in. My house hasn't been this clean on years and I've lost 30 lbs. from the increased physical activity.

Hang in there!
