Hi all,
I've been on Effexor 75mg for nearly 6 weeks. Anxiety's gone, but semblance of depression persists - I feel even but low. I've noticed that lately, the last few days, I've begun to get 'racing heart' again, sort of the same physical sensation as a high anxiety episode but without the emotional / mental feelings of anxiety. My heart feels like it might beat out of my chest, but I don't feel badly, particularly.
Does anyone else get this? Any suggestions on how one might control it? Any ideas about supplements / vitamins to take?
Thanks. Jen.

I think Effexor bumped my blood pressure and pulse up enough to warrant getting off of it. You might want to call your doctor just to be safe.
I was also allergic to it so I had to discontinue it anyway. As I went up on the dosage I began to itch like crazy.Phil

Hi:
When I took the 150 mg. Effexor, my heart-beat got REALLY high to the point where I almost ended up at E.R., NOT because of my M.I., rather S.E.s from the Effexor.I called the pdoc. right away, and was instructed to discontinue immediately which I did. It was VERY scary thing for me to go through this experience. It was my worst experience in my life, although I've been taking several different 'potent' to 'semi-potent' med. one of which is the Zyprexa. After having called the pdoc., I was allergic to this.
However, your experience on the 75 mg. Effexor is MUCH milder in comparison to mine.
My hunch is, ... you may not be a good candidate to the Effexor as well as any of SSRIs. Because, in my knowledge, one SSRI does NOT work on you, then other SSRIs won't help you, either. You may need to find other form of anti-depressant, but first talk to your pdoc. in this regard.

Hi - I don't know if this applies to effexor, but I'm on an antibiotic - levaquin - that increases the effects of caffeine. I didn't know that and last night, my heart was pounding out of my chest.
I read up on it this morning and realized that was the cause. I had a latte and 2 large mugs of tea yesterday. Today I'm fine.
My DS is on Luvox, and I was told that it also increases the effects of caffeine. If you drink a lot of caffeine, you may want to cut it out to see if that helps.
Good luck!
