Lithium is one of the only medications that slashes my suicidal feelings, but it makes me feel *SO* grey. Everything is grey. Visually, and mood wise, I guess I'm stuck with this.

Hey Linkage, yes, I took lithium when i was suicidal years ago and it did make me feel "nothing", but that was better than the horrible depression. I know you just got out of the hospital and your in a transition stage right now. Just do what you have to do right now and then when you are ready, try some diff. meds that arent so harsh..You can get through this.....

Every antidepressant I have tried, ends up agitating me more, and pushing me to places I don't want to go. I feel very much like myself on the lithium, but my world is very grey.
I wish there was a warmer antidepressant on the market. I have only taken opiates by perscription for medical operations, but they relieve my depression without making my mind race or agitating me.
I think I have an opiate deficiancy. I am addicted to exercise, 1-2 hours of jogging/day, but it is one of the only things that keeps the demons away.

No, but my psychiatrist has already labled me as a drug seeker. Ie I obsess about medications, and am always seeking to change. (probably due to the fact that nothing has worked!!)

I find "grey" better than black,
and certainly better than red, or
different colours hitting you at the
same time altogether like a kaleidoscope.I hate taking drugs. I have asked
my dr. if i could stop. Nope. And when
i did try on my own, it was very hard
and impossible. From what i read and from friends's experience,
i think we need a good drug with no
side effects for all affective disorders. In the meantime, the one with the least
side effects is the best you can hope for.I rely on authority and take it on faith
that the drugs are not withdrawn on account
of the underlying disease looming up.But I have read Dr. Mogens Schou (see
his brochure on the Practical Guide to
Manic Depression) and others
and that is not necessarily the case - at least
that was not how affective disorders were
viewed 50 yrs. ago. Few really wants
to take a risk with the side effects of
discontinuation being so awful and protracted
in some cases.Squiggles
