Is 30 mg the highest you can go on lexapro? While I have recieved some from the depressive episode I am suffering, things are still hard to do. It took me 2 swings by the mall before I was able to go into the store (normally it wouldnt be a problem)

Hi, my pdoc just increased my Lexapro to 60mg a day for depression, anxiety, and OCD. But everyone responds to medications in a diffenent way. I was worried because I had read that the max. dose of Lexapro was 20mg and was suprised when my pdoc began upping the dosage to where I am now at 60mg. I think that the higher the dose the more side effects you probably incurr. Wish you the best.

Currently at 30mg, but pdoc said I could go higher if I felt I needed it. Cletus2, hasn't posted in a while, was at 100mg.

my dr. mentioned to me that 30 was the max...
I'm scared. my depression is so bad right now, it doesnt seem like the lexapro is helping with anything. Either that or I have gotten so depressed that for the last 2 days I've gotten up, barely ate and went promptly back to lie down.
I know that I am supposed to be trying to help myself, but I've been getting worse and worse in terms of that. I'm running out of energy

Does anyone here know why the manufacturer sets the "limit" at 20mg/day for Lexapro? I'm currently on 25mg - good results for depression but I've also got the subsequent exhaustion problem.

I've been feeling kind of out of it on the 30 mg. not happy, not sad or anything... also I notice that I "faze" a lot I'll focus in on one thing and just faze out even though I am fully aware of what is going on around me. what's going on?

When drug companies do clinical trials, the trials only last about 6 weeks. At 6 weeks, most patients do good on low levels of antidepressants. That's why they would say that 20mg is a maximum.
But when people are on AD's for more than 6 weeks, a lot of people eventually need a dose increase.
The "toxic" dose of Lexapro is extremely high.
I am on 30 mg and my doc said that he would have no problem increasing it in the future.
