Hi, clearly the ritalin isn't cutting it for me and I want to switch to Adderall. Is there anyone here who takes Parnate and Adderall?

Thanks Chemist. I know that the two meds are contraindicated. My pdoc knows as well of course. But we grasping at straws here since I have been on well over 30 meds and I remain depressed. The Parnate does help more than any other med has, but I am still often in a depressed state. My blood pressure is on the low side and so adding the Ritalin didn't seem as risky. Plus, I decreased my Parnate from 80 mg to 60 mg when I start the ritalin.
I know it's not a good mix, but I want to pursue it and see if it helps.

maxime, are serious in dose of 60 mg parnate? this is extreme and very dangerous, especially with a CNS such as ritalin. apparently your depression is atypical, or otherwise, you'd be dead. period. i actually cannot think of any reason why you should not have had (at least) a stroke. i HIGHLY SUGGEST you have a talk with your doctor concerning MAOI-A meds and stimulants. please do not let this tslip away.....all the best, chemist

hmmm... i have bipolar + ADD and my doc had no problem putting me on parnate (40 mg) + ritalin SR (40 mg tid) but i don't think he would touch amphetamines ... much much more dangerous is the vibe i get from him

Hi Cyber. Yeah, I realised yesterday that there is no point in asking for Adderall or Dexedrine. There is no way he would prescribe it. He said he would let me try Provigil.
Do you take the regular Ritalin or the SR Version. DO you take 40 mg twice a day. Right now I am taking 20 mg SR twice a day but I usually take 10 mg of the regular Ritalin before hand because if I waited for the SR to kick I would be waiting forever.

I was once on 60 mg/day of Parnate and 30 mg/day of Dexedrine without any adverse interactions. I could also eat whatever I wanted without any hypertensive reactions. Some people are more sensitive than others.

I take 70mg of Parnate and have been adding 15mg Ritalin for about 3 years. The Ritalin has provided a nice boost to the Parnate with virtually no side effects. Recently, however, it really hasn't been cutting it. When faced with the choice of increasing the Ritalin or trying another med, I decided to try Adderal. I got a prescription with instructions to take 10mg or 20mg daily as needed. Unfortunately, I won't be able to fill the prescription until tomorrow. I will let you know how it works out.
