I told a doctor once that the regular paxil, although it seemed to work, caused such terrible stomac problems that I lossed all this weight and decided to stop it. Then I asked him if the new CR would help with the lack of appetite and his response was"yeah it would but that's about all it does". Has anybody heard or has had an experience with this?I'm asking because I am on the PaxilCR right now and it doesn't seem to be working the way the regular Paxil did. My biggest fear is that it has nothing to do with the PaxilCR at all;that I've just become treatment resistent to every medication.

I think we are the only 2 people who have LOST weight on Paxil. As far as I know, the CR version is metabolized in the intestine, therefore, helping to decrease the negative effects on the stomach many people experience. Also CR is supposed to help lessen side effects in general.
Ive read at another website "crazymeds.com" that once youve stopped and restarted Paxil it does not have the same effect.
Ive been off and on Paxil & Paxil CR for 7 years (currently off). I preffer regular Paxil. With my last Paxil run I combined both versions. I see my pdoc tomorrow and will ask him to put me back on Paxil(I think). Changing Meds causes anxiety for me in itsef. Im SURE he will want to go with the CR. He feels that the long acting drugs are superior for me because they avoid the ups and downs throughout the day. Mood swings are a major problem for me.What dose of CR are you on now?
What dose of "regular" were you on Ppreviously?Best Wishes,
Cindy

Thanks for your response. I was on 20 mg of the regular paxil and went down to 10 because the 20 gave me too much anxiety and it STILL worked, with ocd symptoms and everything. Now I'm on 24 mg of the CR with minimal effect. I'm also on lamictal(300) and ritalin(10mg twice daily) and can't get any sustained effect. When I was on paxil, that was ALL I was taking and it worked fine.
