Hi, how long does valium stay i nthe system for? i took 5mg saturday morning about 11am then another at 3 pm... i am going to spain on holiday first week of june, so dreading it never been abroad before :O.... so i just wanna make sue i got enough valium with me just incase like.. and wants to know how long it lasts for,, bare in mind i am a little overweight so i suppose i may need higher mg? not sure..

Here's a list published by Dr. Bob a long time ago regarding the relative half-life's of benzo's compared to Valium. Some say that the efficacy is about half the half life.

high there, chemist here.....contrary to previous post, active metabolite of diazepam is desmethyldiazepam. half-life of elimination is between 30 and 60 hours, with the high side for elderly folks or those with liver problems (hepatic impairment). this means if you take therapeutic doses daily, you will be fine, as the ``new'' dose kicks in before the previous one peters out....all the best, chemist
