I'm curious which of the SSRI's has the least amount of side effects? The main ones I've tried are Luvox, Paxil, and Prozac. Paxil had strong sexual side-effects. Luvox made me want to sleep a lot. Prozac also had sexual side-effects, though not as bad.
I've heard there might be some newer ones that have milder side-effects. Is that true or is it just wishful thinking?

Hi Doxielover,
Lexapro is the newest med in the SSRI family and is said to have the fewest side effects. That wasn't my experience, but many people that I've talked to didn't have any trouble with Lexapro. I guess it really depends on whether or not you're sensitive to meds.

>Paxil & Luvox are the worst for side effects, Lexapro probably has the least side effects, Prozac is the easiest to quit & the SSRI most likely to be helpfull is Zoloft. They all have sexual side effects to some degree as it seems to be a byproduct of increased serotonin. Wellbutrin & Remeron can counter those side effect when added to an effective SSRI, choose Wellbutrin if you need something stimulating, Remeron if you are having sleep troubles. I take Effexor & Remeron, I'd probably take Wellbutrin too, but I can't get it here.
