I started taking Effexor last month. I also took 100 mg of Zoloft the first week, then 50 mg the second week, to wean myself. I liked Zoloft and used it for about 2 years, but it just stopped being effective. The Effexor (150mg)has been working really well. My side effects have been yawning (alot)and some sleepiness. I started reading this forum and began to get worried about all the negative things being said. But it's been a postiive experience for me (so far). Does anyone know how it effects pregnancy?

I too have had a positive experience on Effexor, after I got over some of the initial side effects. These go away in time. For me the main ones were dry mouth, yawning/fatigue, frequent urination, difficulty urinating and erectile disfunction. All of these have subsided.
You will mainly see negative posts here because by-in-large, the people who are having the positive experiences do bother doing a search to find a place to post. Also, most posts are regarding Effexor withdrawal, something I have not had to face yet, but then I'm in this for the long haul, so I'm not too worried about it.
Effexor is a good medication that has its share of pluses and minuses, just like any other drug. On the whole, I've very happy with it, cost notwithstanding... Good Luck!

Even if you don't plan on abandoning Effexor, you might still experience some of the withdrawal symptoms if you miss too many doses (sometimes one is too many).
But I agree that Effexor is a better medication than most people here acknowledge. I was really upset when I decided to quit, because I knew how bad the withdrawal could be. But after switching from 75mg to 37.5mg, I experienced none of the withdrawal I was so accustomed to. I decided after a month to go back on the Effexor because of my rebounding depression, but no brain-shivers while I was down to 37.5mg.

Thanks a lot for posting some positive things about effexor. Makes me feel a little more confident. But lately I have been noticing some eye strain and eye fatigue. I know eye pressure is a side effect. Has anyone else experienced this and is it serious?
