Even if you don't plan on abandoning Effexor, you might still experience some of the withdrawal symptoms if you miss too many doses (sometimes one is too many).

But I agree that Effexor is a better medication than most people here acknowledge. I was really upset when I decided to quit, because I knew how bad the withdrawal could be. But after switching from 75mg to 37.5mg, I experienced none of the withdrawal I was so accustomed to. I decided after a month to go back on the Effexor because of my rebounding depression, but no brain-shivers while I was down to 37.5mg.
