Petetion for those suffering Effexor withdrawal

This is probably old news to many here, but I just found this sight where you can sign your name to a petition, that will be presented to the manufacturers of Effexor regarding their misinformation about withdrawal effects.

Are these petitions being used by Lawyers as part of a class action law suit? Sure seems as these documents have been created with some serious legal ease.

These lawyers could be a real detriment to our cause in the long run. Especially when they make claims such as:
"Nor had proper disclosure been made that benzodiazepines had been co-prescribed during clinical trial in order to minimize the agitation that the manufacturer had recognized this medication could cause."

Maybe it would be better if you would explain your problems to the Drug Co. Often the only winners in these class action law suits are the lawyers. The more difficult and costly it is for drug companies to make and get approval the worse we are all off in the long run.

Just a thought,
Mark

Hmm...I don't think this petition was prepared by lawyers~at least there is nothing in the text of the page that mentions anything other than the fact that they are requesting full disclosure of the withdrawl effects to be made available to the public, so that consumers may have all of the information they need to decided benefit vs cost in the long run.

I saw a signature that included information on a class action suit that someone was attempting to put together (the mother of a 19 yr old whose kidneys were trashed~ allegedley by Effexor use). But, this is the only mention of possible legal action that I saw on the site.

I'm not even sure if a mere 4,000 signatures on an online petition will spur the manufacturer to be more responsible in their representation of the drug they peddle~but I hope it does.

I don't doubt that the manufacturer played down withdrawal effects, but I do agree with Action that the lawyers seem to be the culprits in so many lawsuits. The losers are people who take Effexor since any money paid in a lawsuit will simply be passed on to people who need drugs from the manufacturer.

A knowledgable doctor will know that prescribing Prozac (with it's long halflife) during Effexor withdrawal will make the withdrawal more bearable. I have never taken Effexor, but I know from reading many many posts over the years that it is a very effective and very safe drug.

Hi,

Ive never been on AD before and am currently on 300mg EFFEXOR XR daily. This sees a high dose but also seems to be working.
What should I expect in the time to come when I have to go off it?

Thanks
