My experience with celexa is that the more I take the more axiety I have. You should deffinitly reduce the celexa. I fould 60 mg to be a good dose with my 7.5 mg zyprexa. At 80 mg celexa it was not so good, not to mention it was making me a little angry.

Hi Erik,

If it's been six months of hell, the new combo isn't working and you should try something else. It sounds like you might have developed a tolerance for Celexa, or maybe the removal of Imipramine from your drug cocktail has caused it to be less effective. These are things you should discuss with your pdoc.

No one should have to suffer from panic disorder and ocd. You might try lexapro, I've had a lot of success on it. I hope you find a new drug combo that works for you.

K.

the imipramine caused so much weight gain that i got sleep apnea and got very sick from working too hard and never getting sleep

what sucks now is the celexa actually causes me not to sleep and my CPAP is so hard to wear

what should i do? go back on the imipramine? im on 100mg of celexa now and its barely doing anything?

i want to stick it out though, ive come so so far in 6 motnhs only to have it crushed at the last minute :(

Oh, I see. Im sorry for how things turned out. hmm, I no doctor and I dont know you at all. But I can say, that for some people drugs like celexa (SSRI) can take up to 6 month to produce the desired effect. But thats rare.
You are already on a high dosage of Celexa. Maybe he is willing to prescribe you something like an augmentor? Lithium comes first into my mind. It really can do much on the serotonin system. Maybe ask you doc, what he/she thinks about that.

good luck in whatever you decide

I think no one really know how this drugs work.
The drugs called trcyclics (because of its chemical structure) like imipramine just work better for people, but have much more side effects than the new drugs have. Most SSRIs work on just one (called 5-HT(1A)) of around 14 different serotonin receptores. They dont do much else in your brain. At least of what is known today.
Imipramine works on all 14 Serotonin receptors. Scientist believe that just the 1A receptor is responsilble for antidepressive/antianxiety response. But this might be wrong IMO. And yes it also works on norepinephrin and many other sites in the brain. Blocks Histamine, blocks Acetylcholine, blocks noradrenaline alpha 1 + 2 which modulates function of other neurotenasmitter systems. Maybe altogehter is necessary to "bend" your brain the right way, while celexa alone doesnt.

This is a short post to explain this, but thats all my poor brain can produce these days ;)
