Hello Lamictal users.
I'm at 350 mg. Has anyone found that Lamictal caused an increased heart rate? I notice this now at the higher dosage. It seems to be stimulating to my body, even though I don't actually feel revved by it like caffeine. I can even be drowsy at the same time.
When I wake up in the morning my pulse is around 85-90. I've been using atenolol to control anxiety for quite a while, and after taking that in the morning, it seems to help some, but I don't really like this side effect. And my pulse seems to quicken more easily also. This makes it harder to exercise, and I really like to exercise. No preexisting health problems.
Any other suggestions to quiet my system down? I do have benzos at my disposal, but I'm afraid if I take too much I'll make myself too drowsy. I guess I could increase my atenolol dosage, though I was hoping not to.
Thoughts?

In reply to Lamictal - increased heart rate?, posted by Emme on December 31, 2003, at 18:04:16
Hello,
I have been on lamictal going on 4 months, currently at 300mg, and have not experienced any increase in heart rate. I was up to 400mg briefly but decided to go back to 300mg as I felt no difference on the higher dose. I take it along with prozac and remeron for unipolar depression. This combo has been very effective in relieving my depression. I have been on ADs over 12 years and have taken numerous ADs including celexa, effexor, paxil, wellbutrin, elavil, zoloft, etc. So far all the ADs I have taken whether by itself or in combo with other ADs pooped out over a period from 1 year to 2.5 years. Hopefully, I will have better results with this lamictal, prozac and remeron combo. Hope this info helps. Have a nice day.
