Lamictal - increased heart rate?

Posted by Emme on December 31, 2003, at 18:04:16

Hello Lamictal users.

I'm at 350 mg. Has anyone found that Lamictal caused an increased heart rate? I notice this now at the higher dosage. It seems to be stimulating to my body, even though I don't actually feel revved by it like caffeine. I can even be drowsy at the same time.

When I wake up in the morning my pulse is around 85-90. I've been using atenolol to control anxiety for quite a while, and after taking that in the morning, it seems to help some, but I don't really like this side effect. And my pulse seems to quicken more easily also. This makes it harder to exercise, and I really like to exercise. No preexisting health problems.

Any other suggestions to quiet my system down? I do have benzos at my disposal, but I'm afraid if I take too much I'll make myself too drowsy. I guess I could increase my atenolol dosage, though I was hoping not to.

Thoughts?

Emme
