question about my liver

Posted by linkadge on December 18, 2003, at 9:15:51

I am concerned about taking the full dose celexa because of what it might do to my liver.

I know that there are no studies that suggest celexa is dammaging to the liver to any great extent.

Just specutivly could anyone guess as to how much dammage 20 mg of celexa would do to the liver over a lifetime, in a otherwise healthy non smoking non drinking 20 year old ??

Thanks

If this is not enough to make you feel OK, have a liver function test from time to time.

Hi:
In my knowledge, a lot of pshycho-meds. need a 'good-functionable' liver in order to get 'good' effectiveness done. Then, your concern is very understandable. However, most of AD meds. including the one you are on, not publicly deterimental to the liver, unlike 'Lithium' and 'Depakote,' both of which are needed to 'monitor' the liver periodically, done by all sorts of liver-test in the clinic.
However, if there is some reasons for you to worry because of family-history or something, besides without drinking and smoking, you could go to the clinic to inquire for 'liver-test' that is normally quite reasonable charge with the insurance, around $25-40.
