Ladies: Lex and Yeast Infections?

Posted by Annette2 on December 3, 2003, at 2:04:41

It may be coincidental, but I have developed a yeast infection in the week since starting Lex. It could be a result, I suppose, of having binged on sugar or it could be a SE of the Lex. I am inclined to blame sugar consumption on this itchy affair, but would like to ask whether anyone else has experienced the onset of a yeast infection after starting this med or another.

You know I haven't noticed the itch thing yet, but I have noticed an increase in carb cravings. So, I will have to watch out for that. Hubby says, "Don't eat that stuff. You will eat yourself raw." That usually does in my urge to binge on the sweet stuff.

Thanks for the warning.

Hi,

It may be coincidental, but I too have had monthly itchiness after taking Lexapro. I started taking it in Feb. and was taking 5mg daily (not 10mg as I mistakenly typed in a previous post). Anyway, I was taking carbamazepine 200mg with it for a month, then stopped that and just took the Lexapro. I'd get what I'd call a very mild yeast infection, no discharge, just itchiness. It would occur about a week after my period, and last until I started again. I'm 40 yrs. old and not taking any hormones or oral contraceptives. Who knows?

I am now taking 20mg Prozac capsule daily. So far, no itchies (been on it for 2 1/2 weeks).

This is the end of the thread.
