I am sensitive to meds so I started Lex slowly. I went from 2.5 mg. to 5 to 7.5
and now 10 over a three week period.I am so "jumpy" right now I can hardly stand it. I thought if I eased my way up
I would avoid this (though each increase did make me a little more jumpy). From
reading this board it looks like it takes about two weeks for the SEs to go
away. Am I now starting from scratch (i.e., I need to suffer for two more weeks)
or do you think I'll get "time off for good behavior" (because I have been
taking it for three weeks)?Lexapro is strange stuff. I felt really good on Monday morning (I was taking 7.5
mg.) The best that I had felt in weeks. Stressful situations at work lead to an
increase in anxiety which lead to a crying session in my car on the way home.
All the benefits of Lex were gone. I felt like day one. All I can think of is
that the 7.5mg dose was the absolute minimum for me. That's why I bumped it up
to 10.I have a prescription for Lorazapam (2.0 mg at night for sleep). I'm resisting
taking one now because it will be hard enough to quit when the time comes. I
don't want to get into the habit of taking it during the day. I guess all I can
do is "tough it out"

I started Lexapro about 1 1/2 months ago and I still get minor side effects. I am too scared to take 10 mg's so I take only 5 mg and it makes me sooOoOOo sleepy. I usually pass out right after taking it and I take it in the morning. 10mg would keep me in bed all day and nauseas. I don't get the jumpy feeling that you explain.. kinda opposite. Have to admit, Lexapro has been wayyyy more tolerable than most other medications and definately the softest SSRI. Give it Time! Good Luck.

It is interesting how people can take the same drug and suffer opposite side
effects. I take 10 mg at 8:00 am and am waking up jittery during the evening. It
puts you to sleep (personally, I could use a little sleep).

Ive been on the Lexapro 10mg (7:00 AM) for over four weeks now and I had a problem with insomnia since the 3rd day on the pill. I was taking ambien every night not for trouble falling asleep but trouble staying asleep I would take the ambien at like 2:00 AM and I would go back to sleep and I would feel jittery during the day. I attribute that to lack of proper sleep. Well now Im on my fifth week of Lexapro and I have slept every night this week without taking anything to stay asleep and I get really comfortable and relaxed just before I fall asleep and Im having the best vivid dreams. Believe me the first four weeks I thought I was losing it. I was ready to throw in the towel and go off this stuff. I was afraid I would always need the ambien. This sites posters have calmed my nerves that its my brain adjusting to the SSRI. I suggest you call your doctor to see if they can prescribe something until your body adjusts it makes all the difference. Good luck

I am already taking 2mg. lorazapam to fall a sleep. 50 mg trazadone and 4 perphenazine to stay a sleep. It worked until I upped my dose of lex to 10 mg. I'm hoping it gets better in a few days.

Ever try Remeron? This stuff is the best. Keeps you asleep with no problem and you have really cool dreams on it.

Remeron (mirtazapine) is an anti-depressant and good for anxiety. I have Remeron Sol-Tabs which dissolve in your mouth. The tabs are 15 mg's but I just break a tiny, tiny, tiny piece off (maybe 1 mg) and within 15 minutes, you peacefully drift off to sleep. Remeron has been my wonder drug. You wake up rested... a little drowsy but big deal. It works great with my Lexapro. Ask your doc about this stuff ;)
