Screwit, my real problem is anxiety and I taek klonopin. Plus since I just losy my job, it'll be easy to come off of it because I don't have to be "on". I don't need neurotranmsitter corkscrews or neurtransmitter death. If this evidence exists wtf are they putting us on it?

Because they make great money. As my doctor said, "we are dealing with multinational companies who care little about patient health" Also, they say "we can't be sure"- never mind the fact that patients are having neurological problems some time AFTER the SSRI is ceased. And Anorgasmia after the SSRI is stopped. Actually there is a poster on this board who stopped Paxil at around 16 y/o- he is now 24 and is still having 'zaps' from the drug ('zaps' are a withdrawal symptom which you feel in your head and body) I had an argument on a forum with a psychologist about this issue and he offered the most feeble responses.Check out "Dr. Shipko interview" in google search- you'll find even more evidence about SSRI induced damage.
Also look up SSRI dangers.
Be careful when you withdraw- please do it very slow- withdrawal from Zoloft caused a HUGE depression and huge neurological problems for me. It was utter hell and I'll never touch those SSRIs again.
Benzo's like Klonopin are fine. In fact I think they are much safer and better than SSRIs. Benzos can be used for a life time, IMO. No cancer, nothing. Only dependence.
DISCLAIMER: THE ABOVE IS BASED ON ACE'S EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND IS HIS OWN OPINION. YOU CAN BEG TO DIFFER.ACE.

PLEASE CHECK OUT THIS:
"Persistent adverse neurological effects following SSRI discontinuation"
http://www.priory.com/psych/panes.htm
Also, if you need an AD after stopping the SSRI I would go for a MAOI or TCA- they are much more proven and tested over the long run.Ace

Ace are you trying to scare this guy, its true that some people have adverse reactions to SSRI drugs after discontinuation, however most people are able to withdraw from these drugs with out major withdrawl symptoms.
Overall Im still not a fan of ssri drugs and I will agree if a MAOI drug works for you try and stick with it

> Ace are you trying to scare this guy,
No. No. The last thing I want is to scare him. My comments are based on
1. My research (of clinical material) which has looked at BOTH sides of the argument
2. My personal experience with SSRIs in addition to mant anecdotes I have read.
its true that some people have adverse reactions to SSRI drugs after discontinuation, however most people are able to withdraw from these drugs with out major withdrawl symptoms.
I wouldn't say the 'majority' but I agree a lot have no problems. My main worry is with long-term adverse effects. SSRIs are not lollies- they are potent re-uptake blockers. Movement disorders have been reported, including akathisia, and even TD. Lawsuits have been filed (obviously done from pure greed at times, although). They infact cause a depletion of dopamine which has been hypothesised to lead to parkinsons. When excess 5HT is oxidised it turns into a toxic compound which kills neurons.
However these problems are hypothesised to happen after 10 years or so of continued usage.
To be fair I think some negative comments about SSRIs are way off. I do not believe they cause suicide or violent behaviour. And we must remember that a lot of these studies on the dangers of SSRI therapy have been done on animals- not humans.
But there is enough evidence to be concerned, IMO.
Of course everyone should research and come to their own conclusions.
