Because they make great money. As my doctor said, "we are dealing with multinational companies who care little about patient health" Also, they say "we can't be sure"- never mind the fact that patients are having neurological problems some time AFTER the SSRI is ceased. And Anorgasmia after the SSRI is stopped. Actually there is a poster on this board who stopped Paxil at around 16 y/o- he is now 24 and is still having 'zaps' from the drug ('zaps' are a withdrawal symptom which you feel in your head and body) I had an argument on a forum with a psychologist about this issue and he offered the most feeble responses.Check out "Dr. Shipko interview" in google search- you'll find even more evidence about SSRI induced damage.
Also look up SSRI dangers.
Be careful when you withdraw- please do it very slow- withdrawal from Zoloft caused a HUGE depression and huge neurological problems for me. It was utter hell and I'll never touch those SSRIs again.
Benzo's like Klonopin are fine. In fact I think they are much safer and better than SSRIs. Benzos can be used for a life time, IMO. No cancer, nothing. Only dependence.
