3 beers,
Im changing my name to gman. LOL anyway, why did you stop zoloft? Did you stop it and replace it with same? do you feel any similar effects?
When you stopped zoloft, did you stop 100mg cold? or did you titrate down? When you started up, did you just blast up to 100mg or titrate up?I want to give 100mg of zoloft a try. But if it keeps messing with my sex drive ( loss of libido and cannot achieve an orgasm at 75mg, i may swith to same at high doses. Let me know how you make out.

Geno,
I stopped taking Zoloft 100 mg along time ago because after about 3 months it caused me insomnia to the point where I couldn't sleep for days. I think I went straight from 50 to 100mg b/c 50 mg was worthless & they don't make 75 mg Zoloft pills.
While I took it, Zoloft was the best anti-depressant I had ever taken (actually, Zoloft is the only one to this day thats worked). The main problem was the insomnia, which is common to Zoloft & Prozac, but can be easily cured by Ambien or a benzo like Klonopin, or even by lowering the dose to 75 mg. But my psychiatrist I had then was an idiot & "didn't believe in prescribing benzos, they are extremely addictive, blah, blah, blah" so eventually I just started taking Benadryl all the time & getting drunk at night in order to relieve the insomnia. The combination of alcohol & Zoloft was a bad one, I guess they somehow potentiate each other. That, & the lack of of sleep I was getting led to lapses in judgement, & eventually manic-type behavior (DUI, got beat up after throwing a pool/billiard ball through some guys' F-250 4x4 pickup truck window- he was a big ol' country dude like Bubba Sparxxx (I live in Texas) & he knocked me unconscious & I ended up in the ER).
So I stopped it because I ended up in the hospital after self-medicating with alcohol to alleviate the Zoloft insomnia. After that I tried Remeron, Effexor XR, Celexa, Neurontin, Lamictal, SAMe, & they all sucked bad compared to Zoloft.
So now, I don't take any anti-depressants, just Klonopin 1 mg 2-3x per day, Dextostat 20 mg 2x per day, & the worthless sleeping pill Sonata 10 mg at bedtime (I plan to change to Ambien soon).
So far, the SAMe has been worthless after almost 3 weeks. I am at 800 mg right now, twice the normal dose & still nothing. Since insurance doesn't cover it, the cost increases fast as you increase the dose- its expensive, much more than an insurance co-pay at higher doses.
I think SAMe, like St. John's Wort before it, is just a major media-exaggerated hype. Don't stop your Zoloft to take SAMe- its a waste of your time & money & also you should never stop a prescription anti-depressant to take an over the counter one, you'll just become more depressed.
Maybe Duloxetine will solve all our problems when it comes out (whenever that is), but somehow I doubt it. I should probably just start lifting weights & exercising, while watching less TV, internet & getting out more often instead of trying to find the perfect anti-depressant, which doesn't exist. And a great anti-depressant without side effects?- I doubt that will ever exist.
3 Beers....
P.S.
I'm probably going to stay off of here for awhile cause i'm sick of reading about drugs- I need to do other stuff with my time & i'm also getting lasik eye surgery done soon & won't be able to see the screen for awhile anyways. So see ya later, & good luck, although your probably not going to find a good anti-depressant that doesn't cause sexual side effects- Remeron & Wellbutin SR are the only ones that don't.

3 beers,
Well im at 75 mg of zoloft. Its neither sedating, nor stimulating. I could feel a slight improvement in mood/socialbility, but nothing like ghb. Im gonna stay on zoloft 75mg another week, then up it to 100mg. I still cannot achieve an orgasm and sex drive is null, but lately i dont have a girlfriend, and have not been going out, till june, anyway, well you know why. H.A.
Ya i tried same back in florida, and did nothing. Thats when i was doing like 30ml of g plus 6 beers, plus ephedra. Boy what a rollicoster i was on.
I also may up my remeron to 45mg. If i cannot fall asleep, ill take 10mg of ambien with it. keep my zoloft at 75mg at such.
You are so right when you say you want to start lifing wieghts. iv been bodybuilding, boxing , kickboxing for 12 yrs. If i miss more than 2 days, im depressed. Nothing works better than a good ol workout, to boost those endorphans. Though after my workout, im in a better mood, but not outgoing as i should be. Living up here in ne pa, sucks. No beaches, very limited bikinis LOL, mountains etc. When i lived in florida, my whole outlook was better. im moving back there in jan 2003, hopefully drug free, of even all these ad's ghb, alcohol.
I been using vivarin. Seems to give me a slight boost, but not like adderal. A buddy of mine gave me some riddlin, 10mg so i may try that, and drop all caffiene. if i like it, hopefully my pdoc in 3 weeks will percribe me some adderal or ritalin, if the 100mg of zoloft isnt kicking.
ya i find all i do is read read about drugs. If i had the money, and time, id go to med school and be a shrink. LOL. Maybe diagnose myself HEHE
'
Hey will ridalin, adderal show up in a standard urine as amphetamines. I get a urine every month.write back 3 beers,
gman

I don't know if they check for Ritalin in drug tests or not. I know they check for benzos also. But Adderall or Dexedrine will show up as a positive amphetamine result because they are amphetamines. Ephedrine, Selegeline (l-deprenyl), Diet Pills (Didrex etc) all can metabolize to amphetamine in the body & show up as positive in a drug screen. The amount would be low, but who knows whether the person or police doing the testing even knows of this. I think there are 14 medications most all stimulants, diet pills, or asthma pills, that can metabolize to amphetamine or methamphetamine in the body & show up in urine drug screens.

I have been taking Zoloft for a few years now and I was wondering if anyone knows if you can combine Zoloft and SAMe. I started to take them both and then realized that this might not be wise. If anyone has any knowledge on this, I would be extremely grateful.

Yes, it is generally considered safe. Though medical supervision is suggested.

My doc advised against SSRI's with SAM-e, 5HTP, St. John's Wort, etc. I'm not simply saying "you're wrong" by any means, just what I was told. I'd just urge everyone at all times to use caution when mixing. Here's a link that may be helpful to lots of folks here: http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/Interaction/ChooseDrugs
It allows you to check interactions between all manner of vitamins, supplements, testosterone, alcohol, foods, anti-depressants and other prescription drugs. It may have been mentioned in the past on this board, but I haven't seen it. I did a combination search for SAM-e and Zoloft and the outcome was this link:
http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/Interaction/InteractionResults?drug=&drugList=606&cD=4058&cD=606&dN=%22S-adenosyl+methionine+%28SAM-e%29%22+%22Zoloft%22+&CheckFDA=1I hope this helps,
Bina
