> janejjYou feel the need because you know that there's something not quite right about it. jBut you shouldn't feel ashamed. Have you ever been diagnosed with that illness, common among young women, (I forget the name) where they go on eating and vomiting cycles? I'm no expert on it, but that's the first thing I thought of.

janejj,
you posted because you feel guilty about this method of losing weight. you also know it's called bulimia. Kudo's to you for having the guts to talk about what you are doing. it isn't a risk free way to lose weight. you'll damage the enamel on your teeth. you could potentially damage your back (from the force of heaving). the list goes on and on. it's a disorder. you can get caught in the "binge and purge" cycle and that can hurt you financially. Bulimia will screw up your metabolism and make weight harder to lose in the future. Nip it in the bud, and stop right now. Try walking instead. :)

Losing weight is a desirable goal, but not at that price.
Throwing up to lose weight is a pathological, self-destructive behavior that can cause very serve problems and escalate into a situation much, much worse than simple obesity.
You should act quickly to get help from an eating disorders specialist before this becomes your most serious problem, and depression and a few extra pounds seem like small problems in your past.

Janejj - as someone who has spent YEARS trying to beat anorexia I know first hand that EDs are hard to stop.
What everybody else has posted is correct but there is one more thing you should know - purging your food does not get rid of all the calories. Your body has already absorbed them. While many bulimics can be thin or underweight, more often than not they are average to above average weight.
Take care OK?
