Lately when I take trazodone the effects are so intense it scares me. WHen I take 50 mg I immeditaly feel like I am drunk on about 6-8 drinks. WHen I take 100 mg it's almost like general anasthesia. But I am scared to succumb and "go under." It's such a weird feeling that I get scared and I fight it. It would be so cool to just get to sleep but I get kidn fo hot and prickly and I'm just too scared to fall asleep because I am afraid I am going to die from serotonin syndrome or something.
I use traz. as an alternative to Ativan because I do not want to get addicted to ativan. THough I might use it every few days or on the weekends when I can sleep 12 hours :)

Cut your dosage in half until you build up a tolerance. Trazadone can be pretty scary at first. I used it successfully for a long time.
Good luck,
Kim

You shouldn't worry about dying of serotonin syndrome from using Trazadone as a sleeping aid with Lexapro. I have used Trazadone for 20 years as a sleeping aid and have used it with almost every AD including Lexapro. I haven't died from any of these combinations - not even once.
About your feeling drunk after taking Trazadone, it's a very powerful med and depending on your dose, can knock you out within a few minutes. It is a bit scary at first, but you'll get used to it.
