If you have/had social phobia as your primary condition, and tried both Nardil and Klonopin (separately or together), I would greatly appreciate if you answer these questions:
1) Which one worked better for SP?
2) What were the effects?
3) Was anhedonia a problem with either one?
Thanks!

1. Personally Nardil was WAY better than klonopin for my SP. I think the great anti-depressant effect helped a lot too. It really reduces the negative thoughts associated with SP.2. Klonopin really gave me a blah feeling. It reduced my over-all feelings and didn't make me any happier or social. Not to mention the fatigue - that was a big no-no for me, especially being a gym rat.
3. My depression caused anhedonia, Nardil killed the depression. Most, if not all SP suffers are depressed so I think it's very important to treat the depression.

>WOW, Carlos, didn't you just start Nardil?? It's already working this well? What dose are you on and for how long? How are the side effects? Specifically, sexual side effects??

>Hi Jack!
Yes, I did just start. I noticed a difference from about day 5, it's great and seems to only get better. Not one noticable side-effect either! Take care.

Jack,
I'm up to 60mg and my diagnoses is major depression and social phobia.

>1) Which one worked better for SP?
Klonopin, by a longshot. Nardil was absolutely worthless for me, even at 120mg for six months.
2) What were the effects?
Klonopin--complete anxiety relief, mild muscle relaxation... lasted about 12 hours, though I couldn't truly appreciate its effects until I'd been taking it for a few weeks--then one day I just noticed I felt so much better ~ Nardil--absolutely nothing, except anorgasmia and orthostatic hypotension. Not even the slightest change mentally, even with my dysthymia.
3) Was anhedonia a problem with either one?
It was definitely an issue with Klonopin, but not to a great degree. Fact is, no drug will work for social phobia unless you're willing to go out and get yourself in the mix--Klonopin allowed me to do that.

Ame, how has Picamilon worked for you as far as social phobia is concerned? (sorry if this is a double post).

Picamilon continues to be a wonderful adjunct to my prescription meds. On its own, I tend to think it doesn't have an incredible effect, though it definitely does something that's hard to describe. Sort of like putting a muffler on the more invasive thoughts that cause anxiety--they're still there, but the don't matter quite so much. In combination with a benzodiazepine though (I take Tranxene at the moment), its effects are much more noticeable. It seems like just feeding more GABA to your brain isn't quite enough, for me anyway. It's necessary still to have another med to potentiate it and force it to work a little harder than usual.
I take 50mg three times a day, by the way. No adverse effects that I can detect.

Still looking for more feedback, if you don't mind...
