Picamilon continues to be a wonderful adjunct to my prescription meds. On its own, I tend to think it doesn't have an incredible effect, though it definitely does something that's hard to describe. Sort of like putting a muffler on the more invasive thoughts that cause anxiety--they're still there, but the don't matter quite so much. In combination with a benzodiazepine though (I take Tranxene at the moment), its effects are much more noticeable. It seems like just feeding more GABA to your brain isn't quite enough, for me anyway. It's necessary still to have another med to potentiate it and force it to work a little harder than usual.
I take 50mg three times a day, by the way. No adverse effects that I can detect.
