Nardil question for current and past users

Posted by BobbyT on April 9, 2003, at 23:18:12

Recently began 45mg/day Nardil + clonazepam after a failed trial of lexapro + clonazepam for social anxiety and depression. The clono worked but the lex didn't seem to do much of anything.

How quickly did your pdocs titrate you up to a thereputically effective (75-90mg?) dosage range? Mine wants to increase by 15mg per month, this strikes me as being somewhat conservative.

Any thoughts, experiences, anecdotes..........

muchas gracias

Interesting how protocol changes! When I first tried Nardil, I believe it was in 1982. The Pdoc had me take a therapeutic dose on day 1. I believe it was 45 mg. His reasoning was that it was a slow acting med with almost no side effects and I should build up the blood level as quick as possible because it would be a shorter wait for the mao inhibition to take effect. It seemed like he was right. Another thing, back then, 60 mg. was considered a mega dose. I worked my way up to 60mg after possibly a month. It seemed like it took about 3 months before it really kicked in. I now find that 90mg is the best dose for me. I recently went back on Nardil afer being off for a few years and this time I started with 1 tablet 2x a day and increased to 4 tablets a day 5 days later. hope this gives you a some insight. Hi,

My new psychiatrist has just put me on Nardil after failing to respond to any others this time round. He's got me on 45mg for the first 2 weeks and then up to 90mg after that. Can I ask you how long you gave lexapro before you giving up on it?
