Interesting how protocol changes! When I first tried Nardil, I believe it was in 1982. The Pdoc had me take a therapeutic dose on day 1. I believe it was 45 mg. His reasoning was that it was a slow acting med with almost no side effects and I should build up the blood level as quick as possible because it would be a shorter wait for the mao inhibition to take effect. It seemed like he was right. Another thing, back then, 60 mg. was considered a mega dose. I worked my way up to 60mg after possibly a month. It seemed like it took about 3 months before it really kicked in. I now find that 90mg is the best dose for me. I recently went back on Nardil afer being off for a few years and this time I started with 1 tablet 2x a day and increased to 4 tablets a day 5 days later. hope this gives you a some insight. Lawrence S.
