Lamictal HEADACHES anyone?????

Posted by Krissy P on March 22, 2003, at 15:51:21

Hi all, I have to report. I am continuing with my 50mg Lamictal, now 3 weeks back on it. I take it at night and I have really noticed that in the day, I actually get sleepy-which is totally unusual for me. I feel like a sense of calm, which I think is great. but do any of you have any take on this?? Is it normal after being on Lamictal for 3 weeks now? I see my pdoc Friday.
Thanks, Kristen

Kristen,
Hi! you posted in the title about headaches but above you are talking about being sleepy, so I'm not quite sure which you are asking about. Anyway, I take about 65 mg. of Lamictal in the moring and yes, I do have headaches from it, like in the back of my neck, like tension or something. I'ts not every day, but close to it. I wonder if coffee is making it worse?
I really like it's effect on me enough that I just deal with the pain and do a lot of yoga to release the tension.
I wonder why you take it at night since it is pretty activating? Are you sleeping allright?
Talk to you soon,
::Amy

Hi Amy,
Oh man, I must be losing my mind LOL
thanks for pointing my subject title to me-I don't have a headache right now, and I hope it continues to stay away. I don't drink coffee-but eat chocolate and drink a little soda everyday, more water lately though. I keep talking and talking about starting yoga but I talk a lot about changing a lot. I am going to take the day off to set it straight with myself that I can't go on the way I am with my diet, and smoking, and very little exercise-I will be dying a slow death here and I'm 32. I have NO balance here. I am actually sleeping better at night since I started back on Lamictal so I don't think it disrupts my sleep.
I feel so whats the word?,,,disoriented
thanks for your reply. help:(
Kristen

Kristen,
It has taken a friggin' long time to get in the habit of exersizing.
I have a boyfriend who pushes me to do it. He is a product of turning your life around by exersize. That and medications saved his life.
When he was 12-14 years old, he was addicted to speed and alcohol, in and out of hospitals, and attempted suicide three times. A counselour in one of his group homes took him to a rock climbing gym and the rest is history.
He is now 20 and healthy and stable.
So... he helps me by his example.
I have to work out 6 days a week, whether it's running, hiking, rock climbing, yoga, exersize videos, etc.
If I didn't I would probably be drinking and smoking cigarretes to try to duplicate those chemicals (endorphins).
Kristen, can you try to quit smoking? For me, that was the first step.
Write back,
::Amy
