I've had this shaking and still do occasionally. Whether it's the lithium or years of self-medication with alcohol (dry for several months now) or anxiety, or coming too quickly of Xanax isn't clear. I think the last one is the main contender. Do you take benzodiazepines?

i can relate to you totally. I started shaking before i took meds but it has yet to fully go away. I'm taking 50mg of paxil, 37.5mg of effexor, 15mg of serax when needed to sleep. I've also gone through trazodone, imovane, xanax, klonopin all within a 5 month period and nothing seems to be working...........i could use some suggestions as well....

Have you tried propanolol, aka inderal la, which is the best form in my opinion.
80 mg a day stopped my shaking cold and continues to work now at 40 mg a year later.

I got the shakes for a day when I stopped taking vikodin after 4 weeks, as prescribed. I also had the chills. Felt like a heroin addict.
It's probably one or more of the drugs you're coming off from, most likely alcohol and/or xanax, since these both leave the bloodstream quickly enough to frazzle your CNS once it starts missing their old buddies.
Clonidine is frequently used in alcohol withdrawl, and certainly for shaking regardless of the cause. I'd probably try it over Inderal, since it's just more widely used for the purpose you're talking about. You can use it in a patch or in a pill. It'll definitely work, as long as you get the dose right. Beta blockers can be tricky because they contraindicate themselves in lots of meds. Clonidine accomplishes the same thing, basically, but is an alpha blocker.
Dilantin is well-established for alcohol withdrawl as well, although your doctor would probably be more comfortable using cetapres... read my post for information on getting a free copy of a book that contains these study abstracts.
This is the end of the thread.
