Hi to all,
this is my strange kind of depression:
i'm not desperate at all, but all my life seems to be vanish, useless, without any sense.
I'm bored and annoyed about everything around me.
Nothing seems to be interesting, so i became aphatic, anergic, and think that nothing, nobody has a meaning and a value: why to work? why to do sports? why to go out of home? why to meet people and friends? why to speak? Everything and every body greatly annoyed me and i think to loose my time....but i've nothing else to do!
I feel no feelings, fear, happyness, nothing seems to care to me, my whole life seems to be a complete vasted time.
Noone and nothing could touch me anymore, i'm out of this world.
I was diagnosed Unipolar depression and i was on every kind of AD: ssri, tca,....nothing, on the contrary my aphaty and sense of empty increase a lot while i was on them: I did not speak anymore, i wanna only to be alone.
Before to surrender me (or take forbidden drugs), i thought that i've never tryied with stimulants meds (all the rest Ads i've tryied yet).
THE QUESTION is this: could stimulant substances like Adderal, Ritalin, Concerta.... aleviate my deep indifference for life?
Any experience like mine?
Any help will be appriciate a lot!
Thanks very much for your attention and apologize for my awful english.
Bye

Your feelings or lack of are much like my own. I'm planning on giving Dexedrine a try soon. Have you ever had a trial of Parnate? For me, Parnate is very effective but only for 3 months. Best of luck.

Marathon Man,
A comment and a question if I may. Dexedrine was my wonder drug (dating as far back as 1963), it made me feel absolutely wonderful. Sadly, my tolerance builds very quickly, the abuse comes on fast and I overdose (not being critical of the drug nor do I wish to divert you from your trial...just my brain chemistry at fault).
You mentioned Parnate only worked for 3 months - could you give me a little more information.....is it poop-out? I am just about to start a trial of Parnate since the "new ADs" are about as effective as jelly beans for my depression. I am currently undergoing ECT with "some" positive results but limited.
Any comments about your experience would be most welcome!
Thank you
Geezer

The first time I tried Parnate was over 12 years ago. From day 1 it was quite effecatious. Then 3 months later it stopped being of any help. My doctor had me increase my dose up and up and I felt worse and worse. Every year since then I use Parnate April through June, then try other things the rest of the year. Have not found other helpfull meds yet, I keep trying. Wish you well

Dear Geezer and all,
Both "Kaplan and Saddock" and Goldberg often talk about having to go above the recommended FDA dose of parnate. Kaplan and Saddock mention a patient needing to taper up to 150mg per day for continued improvement. Goldberg has said if you keep pushing the dose, most patients will respond to parnate.
I wish you the best of luck.

Hi Jumpy,
I am afraid my Parnate trial was very short lived. I have a large incarcerated hyatial (sp) hernia (most of my stomach is up in my chest) and the Parnate puts the hernia into spasam.....feels like a heart attack. Just couldn't take the pain - had the same problem with Welbutrin at 450mg. Looks like its back to Prozac. I can report favorably on the ECT....first time I have seen the sun light in 14 months.
My best regards,
Geezer

I'd just like to plug the new double double quotes feature:

But I don't mean to be pushy. Did you deliberately not use it to link to Amazon? If so, I'd be interested in why, over at PBA:

Thanks!
