I have recently begun to supplement my regimine of Zoloft (75mgs) and tiny bit of Buspar (5mgs) with Inositol (500mgs) to control GAD. So far, everything seems alright except that I feel a bit "high" and a have occasional heart pound like when I first began Zoloft. I could just be getting used to this new combination, however.
My question is if there would seem to be a potential negative interaction btw. Inositol and these drugs. I read one study that showed that Inositol cannot "boost" SSRIs, but since there is really not very much research out there on the actual mechanism of Inositol, I still wonder.
I decided just to use myself as the guinea pig but in the meantime, I wonder if anyone has any experiences or advice?
Thanks!

I take about half that amount, but I haven't noticed any effects. Of course i have plenty of other side effects going on at the moment, so it would be hard for me to tell if there were. the research i have seen said it helps with anxiety, and i know that the vitamins i take with inositol do help me to feel better. Nothing i have seen says anything about interactions, although you are taking a lot more than in any of the trials i have seen.
You mentioned feeling high. that is the same feeling i get with the gabitril i am taking to help with anxiety. the feeling of being detached makes me less anxious in general. But hey, if it works, i don't mind it.

i looked back over some stuff i had printed out---it seems inositol doesn't increase the rate of firing of the neurochemicals like regular meds do, but it does something further down the line to increase the effects the of the chems that are fired. You probably are feeling the effects of a more sensitive reaction to what the Zoloft and Buspar do. one report from Ben Gurion hospital in Israel said that it takes 18 grams a day to really do anything, so who knows. if you look up inositol on this site you will find stuff on it, if you already haven't.

> jflangeHey, it's best to follow your own feelings about how a particular supplement is working for you. Because inositol can work as an antidepressant, it's possible that the dose you're on plus 2 meds will take a while to get used to or may need to be adjusted. Or -- if you really like the inositol, try lowering your meds with the assitance of ur doctor.
But I've seen some neat research on inositol at http://www.biopsychiatry.com/inositol.htm
i'd check out the study on inositol and goldfish. seems like it makes them a little happier, too. :D
