ssri side effects (EPS)

I take 50 mg of benadryl 4 times a day for akathisia that I get from paxil. Benadryl works pretty good for this but I don't like taking it 4 times a day. What are some other options? I need the paxil, I can't throw that away. I heard benzos are good. Any input would be great..

paxil is one of the worst when it comes to agitation as a side-effect, are you sure you are wedded to it? another drug you might try is cogentin- good luck, judy

I find that Neurontin is good for Akathisia. I have restless leg syndrome when not on anything, but when I take SSRIs, the agitation is so awful, I lose my mind. Klonopin (benzo) works well to. Actually, what I like about Klonopin is that once I build a tolorance to it, I can't *feel* the drug in my system, yet the medication still works for anxity and agitation. This is better than Neurontin, which makes me feel *druged* no matter how long I'm on it.
