I came across an internet site once of a lawyer who has gone off of effexor and is now on a campaign to warn people about hazardous side-effects. Yet, I can't remember who he was and wasn't clever enough to bookmark the site. Does anyone know who he was?

What hazardous side effects? Certainly there are some side effects that are understated in the monograph, but I think most of the possible side effects (including withdrawal) are simply unpleasant, not dangerous. Am I forgetting something?

I saw the posting too, it was on this web site. I don't remember who wrote it though.
There are many people experiencing similar withdrawal effects from effexor. Even though it works, a lot of people feel they were not warned of the side-effects, withdrawal sypmtoms, and for lack of a better term, addiction this woudl cause.
As an aside, there is something you can do. File a report with the FDA. They regulate Effexor (which is made by Wyeth Laboratories Inc. in Philadelphia.). Help the next generation of Effexor users to be better informed by doctors and the manufacturer. You can submit a complaint to the FDA online at https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/medwatch/
The more people that report this problem, the better response we will get. You can also call in your complaint to an FDA state office (here are each state’s telephone number)

I found it.
Here's the web site that posted the message from the lawyer:

Here is the text:My son is currently looking for a lawyer. He was in a jail and the officers totally stopped his effexor. So, he went cold turkey off of effexor xr through no choice of his own. He went through severe withdrawel, had to go to the E.R. and even went into convulsions. Even though he didnt start taking it again, he continues to have symtomes of withdrawel THREE WEEKS AFTER being off of it. He has just been diagnosed with 'Discontinuation Syndrome'. Thanks to the drug company and the county jail, he may have to suffer with this indefinitly. I know there is a lawyer out there that will want this case. But I would be interested in a class action suit against the drug company. If anyone is interested in persueing this, please contact me at looney_2n2002@yahoo.com.
This is the end of the thread.
