It appears that you missed one of the two threads I had left for you what is now becoming further and further above, so I'm copying/pasting it here for you to respond to.
-----------------
Well, during my *good* periods, I'm a writer, so yep, we all have our own skills! If you don't mind my asking, how old are you? I ask because I'm trying to get an idea of HOW LONG you've been with the depression, BiPolar2, etc. You said your first major depression was at age 14, so if I knew how old you are know that would tell me how long you've been in the *loop* so to speak.
Thanks for telling me your med formula (sorry to hear about the chronic facial pain) -- we have two meds the same (Lamictal - I had been up to 100 mg and something tells me this round I may go higher and Klonopin - I take 1mg)
What is TOPAMAX for? What kind of med is it? I've heard of it in name only.
I'm still not sure I answered your previous question - you had said "I also sensed that something was wrong with the medicine strategy, so I kinda beat around the bush on my answers and focused on the doctor change situation instead, did you find this an odd thing to happen?"
What did you mean by did I find this an odd thing to happen? (do you mean did I find your focusing on the doc situation rather than the meds an odd thing to happen)?
Thanks for your continuing interest,
Janelle

A lot of people who treat bipolar believe that it is best to use more mood stabilizers and less antidepressants if possible. I am one such person. The Lamictal may exert greater antidepressant effects at the higher doses also.

Same class of medicine as Depakote,Neurontin,Lamictal, etc.>

(do you mean did I find your focusing on the doc situation rather than the meds an odd thing to happen)?I was flabbergasted at your situation with changing pdocs (2 of whom in my opinion seemed flaky) and 3 medicines cold turkey. Never seen something like this. :(
Hope you feel better.

First, you said that you are "too old" (I have a feeling you are younger, perhaps a lot younger, than I am!) Anyway ... you said that Topamax is an anti-convulsant (antiseizure) med in the same class as Neurontin, Depakote and good ol' Lamictal, so I'm curious why you are taking TWO in the same med class (Topamax and Lamictal)??
There must be some subtle way that Topamax differs from Lamictal and whatever this way is helps you?

>I grew tolerant to Klonopin which is also an antiseizure medicine. The Klonopin was my primary medicine for treating my chronic myofacial pain (mostly tension headaches). From what I understand, Topamax has a anticonvulsant mode of action not too unlike Klonopin.

I believe Topamax is better at shooting chloride around my brain. Chloride helps stop neurons from firing.

Thanks for asking so many incisive questions. You learn fast.
Thanks John.
John, what has been your experience with Tegretol or Trileptal? Did it not help with the myofacial stuff?

>Scott,
Trileptal was the only anticonvulsant that really made my myofacial pain unbearably worse! This was such a shame because it really boosted my mood (aside from the screaming pain). Have you ever tried that one?
