Good morning Jess,
--I didn't notice "weight gain" mentioned in the side-effects table or in the study at all:
"The majority of newly observed signs and symptoms from Reboxetine treatment began in the first 10 days of treatment, and the mean duration was 10.2 days in the reboxetine group and 2.7 days in the placebo group (p < 0.001). Most were mild to moderate in intensity (94% in the reboxetine group and 98% in the placebo group), and only a small proportion were considered to be severe (6% and 2%, respectively; p = 0.038). A total of 67% of the newly observed signs and symptoms were considered definitely related to treatment in the reboxetine group compared with 38% in the placebo group (p < 0.01). However, the incidence of discontinuations because of newly observed signs and symptoms was equally low in both groups (one patient per group)."

Thanks for that info.. I have read as much as I can find on the web, but I've never seen anything about it's effects or lack of effects on weight.

I take 8 mg. of Reboxetine per day + 300 mg. Effexor.
I didn't gain weight on that. Strangely, smells are more intense since i take Reboxetine.
The most annoying thing is a little bit of anxiety when i'm under stress (i'm not sure if Reboxetine is to blame though).

Anna - That's actually good to hear. I switched from effexor to rebox. after effexor started making me want to eat all the time. Effexor worked really well - only at 150mg until the eating began. I've tried other SSRI's that didn't work so I thought the rebox (being only an NRI) would maybe do what effexor did without craving carbohydrates. After 6 days, on rebox. I lost the confident happy feeling that effexor gave me. I did a pretty quick switch, though, tapering off effexor while starting the rebox.. I think I'm going to stick to the effexor until the summer when I naturally feel better and then maybe try the rebox. again. But, in the meantime, I might try the rebox. with it to keep my energy up. How do you deal with the insomnia and constipation? Thanks for your response. I look forward to hearing more!!

Hi Jess,
Insomina and constipation subsided after a few weeks, at least in my case.
I think you should stick to Effexor since it seemed to be working fairly good for you.
If i were you, i'd try to add a little bit of Reboxetine to it and see if you can tolerate it.
If adrenergic stimulation is what you need, then Effexor/Reboxetine combo would be a good choice. (Talk to your pdoc about that before making any move though).
I still have a side-effect from effexor that didn't go away that is excessive sweating: it's a bit unpleasant, especially during winter months as sweat ing when it's cold it's rather uncomfortable, but i think i'll get over it since i need adrenergic stimulation.Be well

Hello Jess,
I'm butting in here, please excuse me. I've been on 12mg reboxetine for a while now and the only remaining side-effects [that I'm aware of] are the constipation and excess sweating. I don't think I've gained any weight on it.
I tried sennekot and fybolgel for the const but they didn't do a thing. I now take movicol which does get things moving.

Pete - thanks for your response! Is movicol prescription or over the counter? I've never heard of it.

> Thanks!Hello,
Reboxetine would likely cause weight loss before gain, I would think. I have not yet tried it, but it is strictly a norepinephrine uptake inhibitor, which will give you more energy, and likely speed the metabolism over time. It would likely counteract the traditional weight gain side effects of Zoloft and such SSRI's, if you would get that effect from them. It will also cause much sweating, I would think, because of the excess noradrenaline. If you sweat, you burn calories, and thus lose weight.
