Hi everyone,
Since I haven't posted anything in a while, I thought I'd
let everyone know how things are going. I've been taking
Effexor XR for 11 weeks now and I must say, things are going
pretty well so far. On Monday, I increased my dosage from
75mg to 112.5mg daily. This was the second time that I've
increased my dosage, with no side effects. When I was taking
75mg, I found myself to be tired most days, feeling drained
all the time. Then, I spoke with my Dr., and he agreed that I
should try increasing again to see if I get more energy out of
it. I'm actually quite pleased with the results so far, I've
had more energy in the last couple of days and it keeps getting
better and better everyday. I feel very confident that things
will work out for the best for me, in time.I hope everyone is having as much luck as I am taking Effexor XR.
I wish you all the best of luck.MaKi

Hi Maki,
I was about to ask about you!I'm very happy to see you're doing better and that you have a positive outlook on your treatment.
I'm doing pretty well myself, but I'm still at 75mg a day. I still have sleep problems, and otherwise I feel better than I have in 21 years as I have no symptoms of dysthymia! Pretty amazing. So perhaps I'll go to a higher dose later, when my sleep is more regular, or perhaps not, if my doc thinks I'm doing OK. Not sure what her definition of OKness is, but I am pretty OK so far. As good as I've ever been in my adult life anyway.
Tale care and let us know how you're progressing over time.

Hi Sid, it's nice to hear from you as well. I'm
happy to hear that things are well for you too.
Isn't it so nice to feel better and be more normal
than before we started the medication? I'm actually
able to do more things now and the best part is that
I actually WANT to do more things.Let's hope things continue going great for us, and
the others as well.Keep me posted,
MaKi

Hi Maki,
It's great to hear Effexor is working well for you. After reading so many scary posts about it, I was hesitant at first to try it, but I'm glad I have. I'm on 225 mg. I'm especially pleased that I've now lost about half the weight I gained on Celexa.
I accidentally missed my dose the other day for the first time. I remebered the missed dose the follwing day at about 6 am when I awoke to a debilitating headache. So I took that day's dose early and finally at about 8 PM I felt back to normal. But I was pretty useless most of the day: dizzy, spacy, foggy, headachy, nauseous.
I'm actually thinking of lowering my dose. Now that I'm on less Depakote, I don't think I need as much of the Effexor. And I'm encouraged by the fact that you and others are feeling improvement on smaller doses.
Good luck!
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
Good for you, I'm glad you're doing well. If you
think that 225mg is too much, maybe you should
consider talking to your doctor about it, it won't
hurt to bring up the subject. To be honest with
you, I felt great when I was only taking 37.5mg for
6 weeks. The only reason I increased was because
my doctor said that it wasn't a therapeutic dose.
When I was at 75mg, I was so tired all the time and
now that I'm at 102.5mg, I feel fine, and I've actually
been able to fall asleep faster when I go to bed at
night. Weird eh? The only scary part for me now is
that I'm so afraid to ever miss a dose, I've heard so
many horror stories that now I keep a note on the fridge
to make sure I never forget!Take care and good luck,
MaKi

Well, falling asleep is stil a problem for me, so perhaps I should get to 112.5mg a day too?
Thanks for sharing that detail about your experience!- sid
