Double-Doctored

Posted by Lou Pilder on January 27, 2002, at 10:38:47

Babbledom people: I was given an AD by a psychiatrist even though I told him that I had a previous adverse reaction to an AD years ago. He told me that the one that he was giving me was different and that it was like taking asperin. Six days later I was hearing a song in my head. Now I hear wretched music 24/7 and it will never stop. It is awfull. He decieved me into taking the drug for it was in the same class as the one that I was alllergic to.
Then I went to another doctor in an attempt to stop the music. He gave me a drug without telling me that it was addictive and that I would go through a horrific withdraw and suffer lifetime consequences.(clonazepam). I was Double-Doctored. Any babbledom people have similar experiances?

Lou,

We have talked about this kind of stuff here a few times in the past. Have you considered that you may possibly have bipolar disorder or epilepsy? I have to limit my SSRi dosage to the bare minimum-because if I increase it I get music playing in my head, too. Also, when I become hypomanic I hear music in there a lot more. Some people think it is OCD (intrusive music). If you take an OCD med (such as SSRI's) and it gets *worse* I would consider bipolar or epilepsy. It might be a good thing to see a neurologist and get an EEG.

good luck,
Mitch

Doctors tend to do that, especially when mental diseases are involved. I always check what my doctor prescribes before buying and taking it. I told her she needs to be straight with me else, one faux pas and I'll find another doc.

If they think you have a mental disease, there can be this idea in their mind that they know better than you, and that you can't really know what's good for you right now anyway, because your brain function are distorted. Hence the double-doctoring. I find it despicable. If at least they took the time to discuss with you and try to convince you, that would be more acceptable tham to treat you like an unreasonable child.

I hope you find a way to stop the music.

The AD (desipramine) caused the music. I have found 6 cases like mine. There is no proven treatment. I am trying to find someone on this planet that could know of a cure. If there is no one in Babbledom that can help me, then there is no one in the world that can help me. For the mysterys of babbledom are known only to those that are babbling.(have babbled?)

Lou,

Have you ever tried taking any Depakote, Neurontin, Tegretol?? If you haven't you might try it to see if it "quiets" down. If I increase my Neurontin or add in some Depakote I notice it decreasing.

hope you can find some help with it.

Mitch

I did see a nurologist. He gave me neurontin and others to no avail. Hewas the one that gave me clonazepam. The I saw an ear Dr. She tried to sell me hearing aids for $2200.00. I tried them to no avial. I am asking all babbledom people to use their knowlege to find a treatment to stop the music. For it is given to you to know the mysterys of Babbledom. The doctors all know nothing for I have been to them all.

Maybe you are on the wrong class of psychiatry meds? Maybe instead of an antidepressant you need a mood stabiliser or even an atypical anti-psychotic? Just a thought. Hearing music on antidepressants is not considered to be a "normal" side effect. Never happened to me before and Ive taken almost all the antidepressants.
