I am pretty sure I have some type of anxiety disorder, I go for therapy this week. I had a migraine headache a few weeks back and I started being anxious about it thinking it could be something else. I went to the Doc, they checked me out, bloodwork was perfect, etc. I worried like crazy it could be something like a tumor and I think this worry has aggravated my anxiety problems now so that I'm constantly feeling fuzzy headed. I wake up everyday now worrying that my head is going to feel funny again and when it does I start to panic again. Can generalized anxiety disorder make your head feel somewhat dizzy? I'm in no pain, it's just not feeling right, sorta like a headache with no pain.

Yes yes yes. I've had anxiety disorder for 13 years now and for the last year or so it's manifested itself in extreme dizziness and fuzziness. I can't think straight, can't speak properly, that sort of thing. The dizziness seems to come from my eyes when i'm feeling it and I've had it checked a hundred times and it's just the anxiety. It's an adrenaline thing. Causes all sorts of neuro and physical reactions. Try writing down your anxiety experinces, try to be detailed, keep a record of the feelings==dizzy, fuzzy, foggy, etc. Might help you to connect the anxiety to something specific. Have you had vitamin or mineral deficiency tests.....hair sample type tests? YOu're anxiety could be caused by something simple like that.
Keep me updated though
It's nice to know someone else who has this happen. I felt kinda alone in it. Most have palpitations, hyperventilation, but I get the dizziness and fogginess mostly.
thanks for sharing and again, keep in touch

Oh wow, I can totally relate! The fogginess especially in public like at a department store or large store w/fluorescent lamps. It was so hard for me to relate that to anxiety but now that you mention the "adrenaline" part, I think the dizziness(fogginess) is a side effect of adrenaline being released. Anxiety in medical terms refers to 'being on edge' as in constant adrenaline rushes right? Anxiety in the dictionary just refers to a normal feeling of being temporarily worried. I hate when people misuse words esp. depression and anxiety... "oh I'm feeling depressed today because the clouds are grey.

> tinaHi Folks
i'v been going through the same problems you
described in your posts.
I feel dizzy and kind of apathetic, it feels like i'm wrapped in to a transparent film that makes the world and people outside look unreal plus i feel much less "lively". It is like being on some kind of anaesthetic.
I felt the same years ago when i wake up from an operation.
Some othet times I felt like i had a lump behind my eyes: i would panic and had racing thoughts about getting blind, etc.
Physical examinations showed anything of the sort, still, i "felt" that lump and i'd get anxious no matter what.
Other times i had very unpleasant feelings about my body, concerns that would go far beyond any rational explanation: i would feel like my eyes were "exploding" , like i had a time bomb inside my head, etc...All those terrible feelings were anticipated by a sort of dizziness/numbness.

Hi tina~
When i read ur story, it was like deja vu. I, too, suffer with anxiety/depression. And the way I was diagnosed with it was i was going to my physician almost every week. I had a headache for about 3 months, and i was convinced that it was something else, such as a brain tumor. My bloodwork came up fine, and nothing was wrong with me. But then i started worrying about other things. Like I would constantly think i had some terminal illness. I still have problems driving. I'm scared of car wrecks. And to reply to ur original question concerning a funny feeling in ur head, i too have that. I often feel like i can't focus on anything. I feel it more in my eyes. I feel dizzy alot. I also have numbness in my arms and legs (usually only one side at a time). My doc says that it's all related to anxiety and depression. It can do some very weird physical things.

Yeah Alexxus. I too have the numbness in my limbs and the headaches. Not to mention the forgetfulness and fuzzyness. Doc just gave me seroquel to try to treat the ruminations and "busy headedness"
Hope you find relief soon.

I'm so glad to stumble actross this message because I've got a very similar reaction which seems to stem from anxiety. I get the stuffy head that feels like it's going to explode and gets worse and worse until I can't stand it anymore. But I also get the same stuffiness in the ears and often a dry, sore throat. When I lay down and close my eyes, I can feel blood pounding through my brain and in my temples. It feels, like someone noted below, like there's a transparent film that gets thicker and thicker. It feels like my brain is trying to shut off all of my outlets to communicating with the outside world. And it hapens particularly in social situations.
If anyone knows anything about this, I really would like to hear from you. I'm working on my anxiety problem with medication, therapy, meditation, relaxation, acupuncture, you name it. But I can't quite get rid of this head thing...

I started to feel depressed and bcos the medical fees in my country is really expensive, i was worried that this dizziness might cause additional financial cost to my current status.
THis thread is just marvellous,i mean all the symptoms u guys posts are just so true! It has been happening to me for abt 11mths now.Is this normal?? i feel depressed and demotivated.

Supposedly I had anxiety, but then my tongue started tingling, etc. I am scheduled for an EKG because they think I might actually have partial complex seizures. Maybe you should schedule an EKG to rule temporal lobe damage out. I think lots of doctors are quick to jump to diagnose anxiety. I took ssri's which made things ten times worse. All the medication I've taken in good faith have steadily done more damage than good - not that they will in your case. Benzos work but benzos also help control partial complex seizures. Hmmmm.... I'm off Wellbutrin and every other god awful drug I've been given.

Jonathan, my friend, did you suffer these symptoms before your concussion? I'd get any physiological damage ruled out before I jump to the conclusion that it's anxiety disorder.

> CalebHi Caleb,
Thanks for your concern. In fact i havent had any of these symptoms before. After the concussion, i had these symptoms and it made me worry lots!! Some mornings i wake up alright, but somehow i keep thinking that im not alright.
I dont like the feeling of giddiness..etc... its really demotivating.
I always worry that its some sorta terminal illness or something of that kind.
Pls advice. Am i worrying too much??

Jonathan:
I'd get an appointment with a neurologist and tell him/her about what you've been going through since your accident. Don't let them give you the brush off either--i.e., a prescription for Valium or some other quick fix. If the doctor can't give you a good explanation and tell you what to expect in the future, he should refer you to a specialist who treats concussions. If you don't convey a sense of urgency, the doctor is likely to consider your problem less urgent. You deserve an explanation and good medical treatment--but it's up to you to push for it and not settle for less. Before you go into your appointment, write down all the symptoms you've been experiencing since your accident. Be prepared to describe your symptoms in detail.
Personally, I don't think you're worrying too much considering you've had a sudden and frightning change in your life. But rather than worry, try to focus on what you're going to do to resolve the issue. Good Luck.
Regards,
Caleb
