I began klonopin a week ago and has almost completely cured my anxiety, but i do not feel that socialable. My life would be a ten out of ten if i felt more outgoing. Currently I take 2mg of klonopin per day, but has anyone else had success with increasing the dosage by a few milligrams without getting addicted. I know that everyone reacts to meds in different ways, but i just want to get a feel what others have felt on a higher dosage. Do you feel more sociable or less.
PS just got off of Geodon because it made me extremely restless. Also, i need to stay away from ssris because they make me feel diroreinted. Thanks,
Tiny Tim

dear tiny tim,
i take .5 mg klonopin twice daily in addition to prozac--i've found the key is the "cocktail," i.e, taking more than one drug at once.
i'm sure Sal will have better advice/elaboration, but there are a variety of other drugs that might help assauge your anxiety without you having to increase yr klonopin dosage. for me, prozac works, but for you it might be an entirely different class of meds since SSRI's disorient you.
they say that klonopin is addictive, but if it works...? bring it on...hell, food and water are addictive. i'd rather live with 75% less anxiety...
just my $0.02,
sar

> Tiny TimTim, the PDR (physician's desk reference) says that single doses of clonazepam (Klonopin) above 4mg do NOT have an additive beneficial effect, but instead, potentiate the negative attributes of the CNS side effects of all benzos. MY advice? anything more than 2mg at a time is a waste of your meds. AS far as you getting out and active, look at Wellbutrin. At a lower than "normal" dose, say 100mg SR x 2, you may get the boost you want.

Also, i need to stay away from ssris because they make me feel diroreinted."Adiction" is a tough word when applied to a case like this. Some people become dependent upon it at much lower doses beacuse it and only it works for them; (maybe like blood pressure medicine or insulin); some people who take it for seizures take much higher does and do not become dependent.
However, if 2 mg/day is working for you, why fool around with success. Try tapering back after a while and you'll know if your body still needs it or not. There are much worse things than taking Klonopin permanently. Panic being one of those worse things.

Hi Tiny Tim!
Has Klonopin affected your sexual function at all? (I am considering taking it).
If it is, are you sure it is not the Geodon? Thanks
