I have heard a few people say that once they started
taking their meds they actually started to dream again.
My thread or query is this:When you dream have you found the dreams to be
pleasent or have you found them to get darker
and more violent?In my experience, I am taking Effexor XR and
Welbutrin for about 3 months, currently when
I do sleep for longer than 3-4 hours I find
myself dreaming very violent dreams. Not
really nightmares just darker topics, heavier
fantasies, darker kinks etc. All may be part
of my disorder, currently undefined, but in any
case they have all become more intense.This may also be a mental release of the
sexually frustrating side effects, no clue at
this point.Any similar experiences..........

I have found that whenever I add a dopaminergic compound to my drug regimen, I always get bad but vivid dreams--in which I talk $^#% about other people. The medicines that have caused this in me were: tranylcypromine, amantadine, sertraline (weak), buproprion, venlafaxine (weak), and pramipexole.

Hello! I too take Effexor XR 225mg a day in split doses. I have starting dreaming as well. They are not what you call nightmares, but they are dark and disturbing. The kind when you wake up, you tend to think about them all day. Obviously not the kind you want to rush to get back to sleep to jump back in it. (lol) Anyway, I went to the link and read that they usually subside within 60-90 days, I hope so!Effexor works for me...except for the dreaming and insomnia.

> and more violent?I had a relapse of REM sleep behaviour disorder after the first dose of several meds -- Risperdal and amoxapine in particular. The associated dreams involved intense anxiety- and fear-provoking situations. Chase scenes, in particular, were prominent. These features are characteristic of RBD dreams, IME.

I can say i've had (and still having) a similar even though not identical problem.
I'm experiencing weird dreams since I've been taking Prozac, even if i eventually quit it and switched to amytriptyline; these dreams are not exactly dreadful but quite annoying and somewhat unpleasant/gloomy. I noticed my sleep got somehow less satisying; i also realized that i incline to wake up much earlier.
My fiancé says that i often shout during my sleep. "It seems that you were yelling at somebody" he told me. I actually remember i was kind of fighting/getting angry.
