A few months ago I asked about stuttering that had started when I tried to taper off Paxil and never went away when I returned to the regular dose.
Well...I don't stutter so much any more...rather, I have times where I have much involuntary movement of my arms, hands, legs, face, and my back sometimes too. This started about two weeks ago, starting with my hands. Then my face. Then my legs. Now everything.
I had a CAT scan which came up normal. I *finally* got in to see a neurologist...he says he honestly has no idea what's wrong. So he ordered seventy thousand billion tests.
Anyway...I was wondering if anyone here knew of any research into Paxil that may illuminate this (as it started with Paxil withdrawal)...or perhaps a link between Haldol taken 9 years ago starting something that Paxil withdrawal triggered?
One psych suggested tardive dyskinesia...
So...help?

My wild guess is that you have some sort of tremor--a bad case of one. Have you ever tried Inderal (the gold standard in some movement disorders)?

No....what is it?I'm scheduled for a brain spect, spinal tap, MRI, DNA to rule out Huntington's, and some other stuff...I hope something gives me a clue!!

I think it should go away, I am guessing, that your serotonin levels (PAxil withdrawl) is causing this effect? Perhaps it could be that you had been told by the doc to stop Paxil too soon rather than an even further progressive reduction in dosage? I have no experience here sorry but, this is my suggestion/guess.

I've tried doing some reading on TD as my father has it severe. Vit e taken at about 800mg twice daily seems to help if taken early. Ask your doctor about this.

I had this, what you describe below, from Effexor XR. It got increasingly worse and I felt AWFUL. Like I was plugged into an electrical outlet and there were currents running thru me. Awful. Anyway, my point is that it could be the Paxil, in my opinion. My pdoc was idiotic and totally dismssed that my problems could have been from Effexor. Apparently what I experienced is very common when people are withdrawing from Effexor, but not while they are actually on it.

I am almost positive it's the Paxil.
Only thing is I stopped trying to get off of it ~3 months ago.
Anyway, thanks for the ideas...
Gets worse everyday :( I'm scared.

It was hard for me to get off the Effexor. I did it very slowly. I had only been on it for about 2 months but it was still hard. I have to be honest, it was so bad I had to get a short term disability leave from work. But in the end, it was better than having the spasms and being so scared all the time. You CAN get off it, you just need to do it slowly and carefully and you may go thru some rough times. But the only way to get to the other side is to go through it...
Good luck.

What I did do was terrible.
My poor body's so hooked on the stuff I can't go a day without it.
I already know the withdrawals gonna be heinous...but the neurologist said to wait until all the tests are done...
This is the end of the thread.
