Poop out in a month?

Posted by gritslad on April 2, 2001, at 17:10:13

I've been taking Prozac (20 mgs) for a month and a half. Felt great for about two weeks, but today, which happens to coincide with the beginning of my period, I feel like I usually do--bleak, bored, wanting to pull the covers over my head. I've taken Prozac before, and the great effects lasted longer than this. What to do next?

I had to go to 40 mg after 4 weeks. that dose works much better for me. You may need to up your dose certain times of the month or just generally raise it. Ask your doc. Higher dosing can make a big difference for many people. I hope you feel better.

Lithium can often jumpstart Prozac and other antidepressants often within 48 to 72 hours. Other viable alternatives are T4, buspirone, or PINDOLOL (my favorite).
