Exhaustion from BuSpar???

Posted by Alli on March 27, 2001, at 20:24:41

Finished my starter pack of BuSpar and went ahead and filled my Rx. So it's week #3, and I'm taking 30 mg. daily. I am so, so tired and dizzy and lightheaded. Is this from the BuSpar? I have no motivation whatsoever. On the weekends I sleep 10-11 hours. Today I woke at 9:00 (Spring Break for the kids) and had to lay down from noon-1:30, during which time I felt that I was floating up by the ceiling but couldn't force my eyes open for the life of me. I'm either in a rage or on the verge of tears. I'm ready for bed again now (8:30), but the kids aren't! Will this feeling go away, or should I try something else?

I had a HORRIBLE response to buspar, so I am biased because I hate the drug. I also had extreme weakness and fatigue and could barely get out of bed, and the symptoms got worse as the dose went up. I was supposed to go to 45mg/day, but couldn't get past 30mg/day.

I think the buspar definately could cause these symptoms. I hated the drug.

When i first started Buspar it had the same effects on me, I say give it some time because the symptoms do calm down. I have been on Buspar for 6 months, I take 6 a day and they no longer make me drowsy or floaty. Just let your body get use to it and I am sure your symptoms will go away.

Finally got in bed at 10:00 last night after taking a BuSpar. Around 11:00 it felt like my hands were getting really big, like inflated, like I was a float in a parade. Then my tongue felt too big for my mouth! Of course this scared me and my heart started racing. I just curled up in a ball and prayed until I fell asleep.
Woke up at 10 this morning. Spring Break with three kids 8, 6 and 4. Luckily, my 8-year-old can work the VCR and pour juice... but I feel like a shitty, tired, unpredictable mother. Is there withdrawal with BuSpar? I'm supposed to drive out of town tomorrow, but I'm so foggy... what to do??

I don't think I had any side effects from buspar and still couldn't get a good nights sleep.
