HELP! ON 300MG for OVER 2yrs! QUIT Cold TURKEY!

Posted by Havenator on January 8, 2001, at 13:03:07

Please...had to quit Effexor XR 300 mg cold turkey..loss of employment and insurance. I have been off medication for four days now. I was taking the medication for chronic depression and fibromyalgia. Has anyone else been through this? How long does this nasty stuff last? Today is the first day in a week I have been able to have somewhat clear thoughts and minimal dizziness. Body tremors, sweats, nausea, icy hands and feet, extreme fatigue still very previliant. Any suggestions?

How about going to a publicly-funded clinic for the meds? I've had to do that. They're often called "community mental health" centers. Don't go off meds cold turkey.

PhoenixGirl:
Thanks for your help and advice. Nice to know someone else is out there right now! Learning a lot on this site. Communication helping me get through the tremors today. Live in really small town...not many competent doctors...but will give it a shot!
Already been off meds for 5 days...Have to get rid of Effexor XR anyway...going on Guaifenesin as soon as I can. Definitely wish I knew then what I know now about quiting Effexor too quickly... Wish I had some help for your questions!

Also, there are some people here who are on free meds programs sponsored by the drug companies. I don't know much about it but others do.

Mary! Thank you SOOOOO much for the web site on guai....it's wonderful, scary to know it's going to get much worse before it gets better...but to have a possible cure? I will stay the course and tough it out! Thank you again! Bye-Bye Effexor!
