I just started Remeron and was wondering if others who
take it like it and feel that it works on their depression.
I know it makes you very tired at first, but does it
provide more energy once this side effect wears off?
Lack of energy is one of my biggest symptoms of
depression. I've taken zoloft and others, which worked,
but i couldn't tolerate the side effect of NO libido
and decreased sexual function. That's why we're trying
this one. Also, my doctor thinks I should gain weight
and told me Remeron usually causes weight gain (no
appetite is another big depression symptom for me).
Thanks!

Hi,
Yes, I have found Remeron works. I did gain weight on it. Remeron alone has not fixed things completely. I've had to augment with other things like lithium and Wellbutrin. Right now Remeron is augmenting the Wellbutrin.Sedation goes away. I found weight gain plateaued as long as I exercised, watched what I ate and stayed away from lithium.
If you want to learn more about Remeron, I would suggest checking out the Remeron eGroups Psychobabble links site at: http://www.egroups.com/links/psycho-babble-tips/Remeron_000963366608/
It has every Remeron post since the beginning of PB, and it also has a lot of helpful links on the subject from the internet.
Good luck.
Allison

I'm not getting any help from this drug except more sleep. Any other successes with combinations with this?

I found that it took about 6 weeks to have any effect on me. It has relieved me of my suicidal mindset. I am on 45mg, along with Seroquel, Inderal LA, and Neurontin. But it is the Remeron that has saved my life....literally. I actually attempted before being on this med, and I can not even imagine now how I was able to do that! Remeron has stablized me. Thank you Lord.

I have been taking between 15mg and 22.5 for over a year, mostly for anxiety. I had extreme fatigue for a long time, and it still lingers a little, but I have found that it helped. Gained about 10 pounds, but I'm working on that.
I augment it with Wellbutrin 100mg SR. That worked okay, but still had some fatigue, so just upped the Wellbutrin to 150mg, and now my ears are ringing, and I'm more anxious, so we'll have to see.
All in all, I wouldn't give a hugely glowing endorsement of Remeron, but it has helped me, with less bothersome side effects than almost anything else, so I would recommend people at least give it a try. Just be very prepared for a huge amount of fatigue and fogginess in the beginning, even lasting a few weeks.
This is the end of the thread.
