I have come across people talking about "medline research". Is there a site where this is?

Bee--
Medline is a database compiled by the National Library of Medicine which indexes articles from medical journals. Since these journals are written for M.D.s, language is often quite technical. There are many ways to search Medline-- software firms have written various user interfaces (ex--SilverPlatter, Ovid), but most who search it via the Internet use 1 of the 2 interfaces provided by NLM--igm (Internet Grateful Med) or PubMed. They use the same search protocol but offer different options. Igm is easier for the new searcher and there are links from its homepage to PubMed, six other databases, and MedlinePlus for consumers. You can find it at:
You can find a good dictionary of medical terms at:
Hope this helps.
Well wishes--medlib

Thanks so much for your interest and for letting me know about the URL. I'm so sorry to hear that you're feeling down; how did the Holter monitor 24hr ecg test turn out? I hate that test--the adhesive pads drive me buggy. It's been a nasty summer here--I'm really yearning for cooler temperatures and a clearer mind. Maybe I have summer SAD--the only light I've seen in weeks is the glow of my computer monitor.
And, speaking of clueless, what's truly dumb is to be part of the problem instead of help with a solution. Please pardon my stupid URL error; IGM resides at one of the few Internet addresses which has no "www." It should have read:
I think that they'll merge PubMed and IGM (Internet Grateful Med) pretty soon. They both search the Medline database using the same search engine. I just hope they ditch that absurd name.
If there's something you'd like more info on, I'd be happy to run a search and/or translate for you. It might even help me feel a little less useless. (I included an email link in this post, just in case--somehow, the address has never seemed more appropriate.)
Well wishes, medlib
