Tina, thinking of you too, especially because you are always the one looking out for how we are all doing. Hope you are ok.

Hi All: I want to thank you for your concern and want to share some great news. I stopped taking meds last week. All meds, everything and I feel so much better than I could ever have dreamed. That celexa was turning me into a basket case, obviously, so I kicked it. Still on something for the panic attacks but I am improving. Sorry I made anyone worry, I just felt that I had to do this on my own. I used babble as a crutch too much(just my personal opinion)and had to take matters into my own hands or I'd really lose it. I'm not saying I'm cured, far from it, but at least I'm not in the "pit" anymore. Thank you to all of you who forced hope down my throat, I could never have left meds behind if not for you, and you know who you are. To Judith, Kath and Noa--Thanks for asking about me, I luv ya. How are you all doin'? Don't tell me "fine" either, I really want to know.

Hi Tina - glad to know things are improving! You can learn more about my situation under "Hope...kids...drugs..." - I replied to Kathie. Seems both of us have kid problems! I'm feeling better re side-effects (I'm on Celexa - so we'll see what happens). This is the first time I've been on A/D's. I cut the dose back to 10 mg at bedtime. This is the 3rd day of that & I sleep well, few side effects, but it's not working as well re anxiety. It had helped that at 20 mg in the morning for the first 3 days I took it, but then I had either bad side effects or a terrible case of flu or a combo.
Continue to take good care of yourself.
Kath.

Kath: Since depression and general neuro-mess up can run in the family do you think it's possible that your son is having the same trouble? My mom was clinically depressed when I was little but didn't recognize it as that so it was never talked about. I and my brother have inherited this deficeincy in brain chemical and I wonder if you should have your son evaluated somehow? He may be dealing with his own kind of hell and burying it under alcohol and drugs as some of us here have done in the past. Just an idea, maybe way of base. Take care---Tina

Hi Tina - Thx for your comments. I appreciate all input. My son had psychological testing last year at school by a psychologist. He's currently at a Day Treatment program which gives some school work and lots of counselling & substance abuse work. He didn't want to stop using, so this program helps kids cut back (he doesn't really want to do that either, but knows he has to be in some kind of a program to live in our home - he's 16). At the program, they are currently having a psychiatrist check him for depression. He does have some pretty hefty issues with his biological Dad & he says that until he deals with them, he doesn't think he can cut back to using in less harmful amounts. We're doing family counselling with my son, his step-Dad & myself. And my son also has counselling himself at the centre. If you can think of anything else that might not be being dealt with, please don't hesitate to comment. I outlined my situation in "New at Celexa at Psycho-Babble" around May 30.
I'm up to 15 mg Celexa at bedtime & no side effects - YAY.
