I am aware of the ttm disorder I have from approx. age nine. SRIs that I have taken have worked for just a few months if at all. I took fen-phen and it worked for ttm and other small ocds for over a year. My doctor has me on 60mg prozac but all it does is make me care less about the disorders. It does nothing to help me stop them. ( He upped it to 80mg and I got angry, tense, and got hives. He lowered it to 40mg and I just got angry, tense, and depressed.)
Has anyone got any recent information?
Thanks Dianels

I'm going to assume you are. High levels of Prozac very often helps. The addition of fenfluramine with your SSRI may help you further. If you don't have another impulse control disorder, then you could also try Anafranil (it's a TCA). Sometimes the addition of neuropleptics or lithium may also help to control impulses.
Unfortuneately, there are no magical cures for this disorder. I've had it since I was 6 years old. Often people who do this will have another underlying disorder (depression, borderline personality diorder)
My underlying disorder is ADHD, and I practise ttm whenever my body is still and I am alone, or whenever my ADHD mind is 'out of control'.
Two things have helped my ttm.
1. running for 1 & 1/2 hours a day.
2. Dexedrine - a stimulant for my ADHD - I don't even pull on it, but I compulsive touch my hair.Even on your prozac, it could take a few months to notice a difference. Good luck, Janice
I hope I'm on the right topic!

> I hope I'm on the right topic!Janice, Thanks for the reply. I do not get use of the internet too often. I have taken the prozac for almost a year. I am often very depressed, in fact so often that I know it will go away again sooner or later so I try not to pay much attention to it. Oh yes very depressed to where I do not care if I die. Matter of fact it does not bother me if I am alive either. I just know I will be uphappy and sad for a time. Prozac has not helped this depression but it has made me not care as much or be as anxious about being depressed. Again thanks for your reply. Also I have so much joint and muscle pain I could not run 20 feet, forget a mile. Dianels@hotmail.com

Sorry to hear you're so depressed Diane. I don't know if that's a good thing - losing your anxiety about depression.
Sounds like it's time for a new medication, Janice.

> Sorry to hear someone else has a problem like mine. I pull my hair, eye lashes, eye brows, and hair out. I have been on tons of medication. Prozac and Effexor work best. Effexor is a real bother to get off of though.Good luck.
